My Story

Head Coach & Former National Athlete

Coach Ailynn is a former Olympian swimmer and professional coach with over 20 years of extensive coaching experience. She has worked with swimmers of all levels, from preschool beginners to national-level athletes, including Special Olympics participants. Her coaching is defined by a strong track record of athlete development and measurable performance improvement across all stages of competitive swimming.

Proven Athlete Development & Team Success

Under Coach Ailynn’s leadership, swimmers have consistently demonstrated significant competitive progress. Athletes who previously competed at “C” level and below (PVS standards) have advanced within a single year to:

  • PVS Championship qualification standards

  • “A” and above time cuts

  • Qualification for elite summer All-Star meets

Since establishing her year-round swim program, swimmers have continued to progress rapidly, with multiple athletes qualifying for Sectionals beginning in their second year of training.

Elite Athletic Background

Coach Ailynn’s coaching philosophy is grounded in her own high-level competitive experience.

She began swimming in fifth grade in Seoul, Korea, and quickly rose to elite status. In her first swim meet, she earned MVP honors after setting meet records in the 50, 100, and 200-meter backstroke events. Throughout her career, she consistently competed at the highest levels, including State Meets, Junior Nationals, and National Championships, maintaining A-final relay status in medley events.

By the end of middle school, she ranked top 3 nationally in backstroke at the Olympic Trial level equivalent (U.S. Olympic Trials standard).

Despite her success, her athletic journey included significant challenges. In high school, she suffered a serious shoulder injury requiring surgery and extensive rehabilitation. During recovery, she transitioned to finswimming, where she quickly excelled and earned a place on the Korean National Team within six months.

She went on to win medals at the FINA Asian Games and FINA World Championships, set multiple national records, and was honored with the Presidential Award, Order of Sports Merit.

Education & Professional Development

Following her athletic career, Coach Ailynn was offered a full Division I collegiate scholarship in the United States. She pursued her academic interests in Athletic Training and Kinesiology, gaining advanced knowledge in performance development, injury prevention, and safe training practices.

Her education has shaped a holistic coaching philosophy focused on long-term athlete health, sustainable development, and performance longevity.

Coaching Philosophy

Coach Ailynn is committed to developing swimmers through structured, efficient, and purposeful training. She emphasizes quality over excessive volume, believing that effective training should build strong technique, confidence, and long-term athletic growth.

Her philosophy prioritizes:

  • Technique-first development

  • Injury prevention and safe progression

  • Balanced training loads to avoid burnout

  • Age-appropriate programming

  • Long-term athlete engagement and motivation

She strongly believes that modern coaching must evolve with updated knowledge and science-based training principles rather than relying solely on tradition or experience.

Impact as a Coach

Through her leadership, swimmers have consistently achieved significant breakthroughs in performance. Within one year of joining her program, many swimmers advanced from lower-level classifications to “A” cuts and championship qualification standards. In addition, 100% of athletes in her national prep group became Sectional qualifiers within two years of joining the team.

Coach Ailynn continues to guide swimmers of all levels to reach their full potential in a structured, supportive, and high-performance environment.
